Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Nearly 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, generating powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Residents witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to address the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, around 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also experienced energy failures after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations received over five hundred emergency reports across the state, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous rescue reports
- Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, more than 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity expected across multiple regions of both states.
Health Warning
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the area.
