“That was regrettable. That was essentially an exchange with our fans seated near me,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was filled with excitement for the Dallas team.”

Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was completely unintentional, happening amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the wrong finger,” he noted. “The action was accidentally done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”

This incident isn’t the initial instance an league proprietor has been penalized for misconduct. Recent cases include:

• Panthers proprietor Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at fans in early 2024.
