American performer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones stated in a announcement.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive TV Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he posted online.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
