French and British Warplanes Target Underground Islamic State Munitions Facility in the Syrian Desert
In a coordinated military action, aircraft from Britain and France have targeted an below-ground site in Syria previously used by Islamic State.
Particulars of the Coordinated Attack
The operation took place on the evening of Saturday in a hilly terrain close to the archaeological site of the city of Palmyra.
Precision-guided munitions were utilized to destroy the access tunnels leading to the site.
“Initial indications are that the site was engaged successfully,” announced a official communiqué.
Military Hardware Involved
Typhoon FGR4 combat jets performed the attack, with the assistance of a Voyager aerial refuelling aircraft to provide mid-air refuelling.
Purpose of the Facility
This below-ground structure is believed to have been employed as the storage of weapons and explosives.
The military confirmed the adjacent region was free from civilians at the point of impact.

The UK's defence chief declared the government's commitment to work closely together with key allies” in order to eradicate any re-emergence” of Islamic State.
