Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the international break, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Football and Parenting Life

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' only away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously that team's coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a several people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

My son told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have got lots of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's home record, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
