The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track
This latest animated series, the most recent animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several agonizing personal histories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord.
Overall, the opening appears stunning. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.
The intro employs "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar song composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental choice, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will love its presence.
Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the second campaign's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was first revealed in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.
Featuring vocals from one actress, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an installment of fantasy hijinks.
The show's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of this party, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.
Naturally, the creators has already said that the series will have some surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening appears as one of them.
This animated adventure will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and YouTube.
