The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.

At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
