Cardiff will welcome the initial fixture of UEFA's tournament, while penultimate matches and championship match are set for the iconic English venue

Nine stadiums in four host nations - England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland - will host the major competition

Matches were initially scheduled for the northern territory, but that stadium option was removed due to financial constraints

UEFA's decision to play the initial fixture in Cardiff was finalized as the tournament was formally announced on midweek

"This will be the first time that '{The Red Wall' - our dedicated supporters - will experience a major international tournament on domestic territory," remarked Welsh football governing body chief executive the organization's leader

Different from previous Euros, co-hosting nations must secure entry for the 2028 tournament, though they would be promised to play their group games on local stadiums if they qualify directly

The participating countries will each be in distinct preliminary sections, with two spots also allocated for the best-performing of those nations who fail to qualify through standard entry paths

Event Organization

Last eight matches will be organized at the Welsh national venue, Dublin's Aviva Stadium, Scotland's national stadium and London's iconic venue - which previously hosted key fixtures in the 1996 edition and for the delayed 2020 edition

Etihad Stadium, where England's national team would play their opening group game if they earn automatic entry, before switching to the national stadium, is among several other venues being used in England

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Villa Park, Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium and Newcastle's stadium are the others that will be used across the total fixtures throughout the tournament

Financial Benefits

The UK government says it is investing significant funding to organize the tournament but projects a return of £3.2bn due to work generation, local development and overseas tourism

"The European Championship will be the most significant occasion ever co-organized by the UK and Ireland and, as a passionate enthusiast, I know how much major events like this matter," remarked government head

With an average stadium capacity of just under sixty thousand, tournament organizers forecasts that greater attendance than ever before will watch games at a continental competition

Local Reactions

Mark Bullingham commented: "The magnitude of the championship will have a significant beneficial effect on local areas nationwide"

The equivalent official at the Irish football governing body, the association head, added: "The incredible supporters are famous for their passion and we look forward to providing them, as well as the hundreds of thousands who will travel to the nation for the tournament, with the sort of unforgettable event that they will always remember"

The leader of the Scottish governing body, the association official, commented: "There's frequent conversation about the power of football and the benefit it can create on a regular basis across Scotland, far beyond the limits of the stadium"
