The co-creator of Call of Duty, who helped create the immensely successful video game Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in the state of California he was 55 years old.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The renowned game designer lost his life when his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a freeway in LA on Sunday, US media outlets report.

"We are facing an unimaginable loss, and we stand with his family and friends, his loved ones, and everyone impacted by his creative vision," an official with Electronic Arts said.
